The 9090 isn't just the first espresso coffee maker in Alessi's history: it was also Alessi's first object for the kitchen after the 1930s, the first of Alessi's many Compasso d'Oro awards (1979), Alessi's first object to be inducted into the Permanent Design Collection at the New York MOMA, and of course it's the best-loved Alessi coffee maker bar none, as well as Alessi's first "amphibious object", i.e. it is for kitchen use, but with its high design quality it can also be brought directly to the table.

Aesthetically pleasing Moka por
The Moka pot brews well and is an attractive piece. That said, the steel is thinner than established competitors. I think it would dent easily in a short drop. Additionally, it’s a bit cumbersome to clean due to the design. For me, this will be an occasional use Moka pot, perhaps for guests at my home. For my lifestyle, it’s not suitable for daily use. I brew multiple times throughout the day and prefer other moka pots for ease of handling and cleaning.

The coffee maker feels high-quality. I couldn't open it, but customer service helped me. There's also a demonstration video that helps. Basically, you lift the handle straight up.

I really like it, coffee is done quickly with preheated water, love the features like the downward angled collector spout (less sputtering all over the stovetop if you ventured too far away with the lid open) and the no-screw base.
One thing I am weary about (but has as of yet never been a problem) is the friction fit of the handle which clips on the base, I'm hoping it never lets go while pouring coffee as at that moment a lot of the weight of the full pot is hanging from that point.

Hip bauhaus looks, an element of surprise in the design that is continually appealing, and absolutely wonderful coffee. Use a very dark roast, nice oily beans, and grind (fine) immediately prior to using. A splendidly useful tool from the 1970s that has a timeless quality; stylized, yes, but no anachronism, even as it approaches a half-century in production.
Crema shipped the item quickly (to U.S.) at a great price. It is a genuine Italian-made Alessi. I've been using mine for months and I have no reason to believe it won't last for decades, and outlast me in the bargain.

The bottom of the Alessi 6-cup moka pot was so convex and uneven that it didn't work on the induction stove due to the small contact surface. The same problem occurred with the smaller 3-cup pot.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Met expectations, makes good coffee. Have experience with several different models. Bialetti Brikka is still a favorite, but it doesn't work directly on an induction stove. This one has a better locking mechanism. I recommend it.
