Superpowers for your AeroPress® Coffee Maker

Fellow Prismo is a pressure actuated valve designed to be used with the AeroPress® Coffee Maker. This attachment allows for a buildup of pressure to create espresso-style coffee and creates a no drip seal for a full immersion brew. The valve also works as a drip seal preventing any water from dripping through the AeroPress until enough pressure has been applied. The reusable 70 micron etched stainless steel filter stops sludge in its tracks and eliminates the need for paper filters. The valve’s small aperture also fits directly over an espresso shot glass.

Good backup when filter papers run out

3/5

Sometimes the filter is difficult to remove from the AeroPress. It seems to get stuck much easier than the original filter holder. The biggest downside is that the metal filter allows more small coffee grounds to pass through than a paper filter.

handy for more than just "espresso"

does not let the coffee flow before you press the plunger, very good also for making regular coffee with the AeroPress.

Finally a 100% leak-proof filter

With this filter, the AeroPress can finally be left upright on the table to steep without a cup or any other base guard underneath it. The only factor that reduces the star rating is that the filter's opening is made with cross incisions, which means that even slightly slower pressing of the plunger causes a spray almost horizontally, instead of a straight downward 'stream'. Generally, though, this usually stays inside the cup without spilling over the edges.

Espresso from an Aeropress?

As close as it gets. The coffee it tasty, and yes, I know it's not quite an espresso. But I can live with that.

More particles please

Prismo leaves slightly more particles than paper filters and some may say leaves a slight metallic taste. I love mocha brewers and this leaves a similar texture and taste. Recommended attachment if you like a dirtier cup, like me!

Reusable filter

I always use a paper filter and I'm not particularly fond of espresso coffee. I've had my AeroPress since 2015 and wanted a bit of variety in how I use it. I haven't tried and am not familiar with the inverted method. Thus, I ended up with this gadget and here's my justification for it. Well, apparently, the great thing about this accessory is the reusable filter, as it has a special solid seal. This keeps the coffee dose nice and tidy. The coffee also doesn't stick to the filter as long as the Fellow text is readable. From what I've read, problems arise if you use a grind coarser than espresso (difficult to clean)/use a Go (doesn't fit the cylinder)/use a Fellow Carter Everywhere mug (doesn't reach the bottom)/use a metal spoon (filter's surface treatment gets destroyed), but I don’t have personal experience with anything other than the first one, and even then I used paper as an insulator. Purely using paper is not recommended as it clogs the valve. The valve is a great feature here; I suppose the result is akin to the inverted method.

Pricey, but works

Significantly enhances the AeroPress experience as the coffee doesn't start dripping right away thanks to the valve, and there's no need to use the inverted method. I have only used it for brewing regular coffee, where it has worked well. It's manageable with just the metal filter, but with a paper filter, it suits my taste better. One star deducted for the expensive price.

Fellow Prismo AeroPress Coffee Maker Attachment

All good with this..the only thing I cannot get the crema right

Great design but doesn't work on Aeropress Go

I got this because I didn't want the water dripping through the filter of the standard Aeropress Go filter while it brewed. I discovered that the filter attachment of this is actually a bit too thick to fit in the Go, so it would not fully attach itself. I decided that instead of returning it I would simply file the flanges down a bit - this worked and the system now works great.

Fantastic espresso

Works perfectly, but I recommend also using a paper filter for a smoother and cleaner coffee.

Did not fit Aeropress GO.

I like products from Fellow, I have their kettle and their grinder. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to evaluate this filter as it couldn't be screwed onto my Aeropress GO.

Good coffee with less spillage

I lost the original filter and bought this instead. It works great and makes good coffee with a bit of an espresso feel (even without the right coffee).
Less spillage than with the regular filter since the correct pressure is applied. And it's great to have a reusable filter.

Good coffee with less spillage

Misplaced the original filter and bought this instead. Works great and makes good coffee with a bit of an espresso feel (even without the right coffee).
Less spillage than with the regular filter because the correct pressure is applied. And it's nice to have a reusable filter.

Maksim
Fine, not great

It's nice because of the metal mesh. It does not do espresso at all.

Fellow Prismo AeroPress Coffee

Great product easy to use & super service.

Takes AeroPress to the next level

You can make really good espresso-like coffee that tastes super good. I have also replaced the regular nozzle with this one since I generally like stronger coffee. Works great for regular AeroPress as well as for coldbrew.

Questionable filter solution

To avoid messing with paper filters, I bought this after reading about it on Crema. I haven't been able to try it with many different grind sizes, but I definitely can't get any kind of espresso shot. It makes good 'regular' coffee but with a bit of sediment if I grind enough to get the flavor I want. Coarser grinding results naturally in no sediment but a lesser flavor. I think the filter and holder feel high-quality and are well-built, but the results don't convince me anyway.

Makes great espresso from an Aeropress

Easy to use, simple to clean, this attachment makes your Aeropress into a great espresso machine. The edges of the unit may not perfectly fit every espresso cup, I found a few whose handles were just a little high, but this can easily be modded. Perfect at what it does. Recommend.

Ben
Even better than with the oriinal part

It really works very well and crêma from now on. But be aware wen you use Aeropress upside down to put cup on before you turn otherwise you have hot coffee in your pants

Unnecessary and impractical

The AeroPress itself is a functional device and makes good coffee, but this attachment is quite unnecessary.
It adds a bit of "pressure," but only in the user's mind. The coffee tastes largely the same (the biggest flavor difference seems to come from the reusable filter vs. the paper filter).
This part does allow for a drip stop and a reusable filter for the AeroPress, but a competitor's reusable filter can be purchased cheaper and you don't need a drip stop with the "inverted" method. Also, when using both the inverted method and the Fellow, the AeroPress pre-ejaculates some coffee out of the spout (tight seal and pressure inside) when you turn the construction correctly. This probably isn't a problem if you keep the AeroPress right way up all the time.
It's also a bit messier to use than the original system with paper filters. Of course, you can place a paper filter in front of the reusable filter if needed without much issue.

TL;DR:
It doesn't add any value to the AeroPress and is impractical (and costs as much as the AeroPress itself). A small plus for the reusable filter if you like to use it (though a cheaper option exists).

Fellow

It makes really good coffee. I recommend it.

Kapa
Makes me wonder..

Does it work with paper filters? For some reason, the steel filter is worrisome..

Fellow Prismo AeroPress Coffee Maker Attachment

Excellent gadget

Good addition to AeroPress

If you buy an AeroPress, it's worth getting a reusable filter too. Fellow Prismo prevents coffee from dripping before you start pressing the AeroPress plunger - neat and handy!
