Quality at a fair price

It definitely feels like a very high-quality grinder for the price.

The handle locking system is ingenious and, in my opinion, works much better than the one on the comparable 1Zpresso models. The rubber padding at the end of the handle is also a great innovation, as it allows the handle to be used as a knocker as well.

The texturing on the body is very good and gives a solid grip while grinding. I have noticed some chattering, especially with lighter roasts. The grinder's aggressiveness with the completely straight handle does not really help with this, but fortunately with medium and darker roasts this is less noticeable, at least not to a disturbing degree.

The grinder weighs 800 g, but the full-metal construction also adds nicely to the premium feel. The bean hopper capacity is a generous 25 g with medium/dark roasted beans, so 25 g fits easily with a little room to spare. The body circumference is 17.5 cm.

The grounds container is threaded, and this suits me well. Having to unscrew it a few turns is ultimately a small inconvenience for the peace of mind that the coffee will not accidentally end up on the floor while using the grinder.

A downside is the size of the grind size markings, which are far too small, as well as the grind adjustment itself, which could have more tactile feedback when changing settings, meaning a clear click when turning the ring. That adjustment ring kind of "disappears" into the rest of the body's texturing, so if your supporting hand is slightly in the wrong place, the grind setting may change while grinding.

Apparently the grinder is not entirely suitable for espresso grinding without modification. I do not drink espresso at all, so I cannot evaluate this further, but Coffee Chronicler, among others, has looked into this more in their Timemore S3 review.
The burrs still rotate freely at setting 0, and this is apparently an intentional design choice by the manufacturer to prevent burr locking.
This solution also makes life easier in a nice way, since the grinder does not need to be recalibrated/reset after cleaning, for example.

In my opinion, the price-to-quality ratio is more than on point, and I can confidently recommend the S3 for pour-over use.
