The Chemex coffeemaker is an elegant, one-piece, hourglass shaped vessel made of high quality, heat resistant glass. The traditional model comes with a polished wood collar and leather tie. The collar serves as an insulated handle around the middle of the coffeemaker.
The visual elegance of the Chemex coffeemaker has earned it a place in the permanent collection of New York's Corning Museum of Glass. The Chemex coffeemaker was also selected by the Illinois Institute of Technology as one of the 100 best designed products of modern times.
The Chemex coffeemaker, together with Chemex-Bonded Coffee Filter, makes perfect coffee. Clear, pure, flavorful and without bitterness or sediment every time. The coffee only comes in contact with the scientifically designed filter and non-porous glass. With the Chemex method, you can make coffee as strong as you like without bitterness. Perfect for iced coffee and coffee flavoring for gourmet recipes.
Chemex Classic carafes come in four different sizes and are designed to hold the following maximum coffee capacities:
- 10 cups: approximately 1.5 liters
- 8 cups: roughly 1.2 liters
- 6 cups: around 0.9 liters
- 3 cups: about 0.45 liters

The beautiful timeless design of the coffeemaker and the soothing coffee brewing ritual always starts the weekend equally relaxing. With Chemex's own filters, the coffee turns out great and the carafe always has a prime spot on the table. The eight-cup size is suitable for two people for the day's coffee habits if you like to drink the first coffee hot in the morning and sip cold coffee throughout the day. After the coffee is ready, I always put a small plate on top of the carafe to keep the coffee warmer for a little longer.

I heard great things about the Chemex and decided to try it. It looks beautiful but I think I still prefer my good old V60. Still I am alternating and using both. Coffee does taste different, Chemex paper filters are way thicker so you get much more filtration (not sure that's a good thing though). But again, I enjoy tasting coffee using different methods.

High-quality coffee brewing
We got the Chemex for making larger quantities of coffee (more than two cups), and it has served well for this purpose. It offers nearly the same variation possibilities as the V60 and clearly more capacity, as long as you remember that the glass carafe doesn't keep the drink warm for very long. Wrapping a kitchen towel around the pot and using a lid helps maintain the temperature. Cleaning is easy and the filters easily go into compost waste. Additionally, the Chemex is so stylish that it doesn't easily ruin the day of even the most critical interior designer. I recommend it; you can easily make smaller amounts of coffee with it, too.

Beautiful design, fits perfectly in my kitchen environment. Big capacity that holds more than 10 cups. Only default I can see is when/if using a tissue filter, water flows slowly due to lack of air passing through the beak (small detail).
