Foamy Matcha Latte

This recipe is a matcha fan’s dream! Instead of whisking matcha into water, we mix it directly into milk. The result is a thick, green and luxurious foam that crowns the drink.

You’ll need:

  • 3 g (approx. 1 tsp) high-quality matcha powder
  • 100 g (100 ml) of your favourite milk (for example oat milk works brilliantly!)
  • A splash of non-frothed milk for the bottom of the glass
  • Plenty of ice cubes

Optional: Monin flavoured syrup (e.g. vanilla or strawberry) or fruit purée for sweetness.

Instructions:

  1. Froth the matcha base: Measure the matcha powder and 100 g of milk into a bowl or tall container. Blend with a milk frother (electric whisk) until the matcha is fully dissolved and the milk has turned into a thick, creamy foam.
  2. Prepare the glass: For an extra treat, add a splash of flavoured syrup or fruit purée to the bottom of the glass first. Then fill the glass with ice cubes.
  3. Build the layers: Pour a little cold, non-frothed milk into the glass first (about 50–100 ml).
  4. Crown with foam: Finally, pour the prepared matcha foam on top of the milk. It will remain beautifully on the surface as a separate layer.
  5. Enjoy: Stir with a straw and enjoy the chicest latte moment of the summer!

Tips for a perfect latte moment:

Fruity twist: Add Monin Strawberry purée to the bottom of the glass. You’ll get a stunning combination of pink and green layers that’s a true Instagram favourite!

Sweetness without sugar: Try syrups from the Pure by Monin range if you want extra flavour without added sugar.

Foam tip: If you use oat milk, choose a “Barista” version – it froths best with matcha.
