Matcha soda – Pure and sparkling thirst quencher
This drink is a minimalist’s dream: it’s sugar-free, vegan, and packed with antioxidants. Sparkling soda water brings out matcha’s refined flavor beautifully.
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp high-quality matcha powder (e.g. ceremonial grade)
- 0.5 dl water (about 80 °C)
- 2 dl cold soda or mineral water
- Plenty of ice
Instructions:
- Make the matcha shot: Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to avoid lumps. Add 80 °C water and whisk vigorously (preferably with a bamboo whisk, i.e. chasen) until a beautiful green foam forms on the surface.
- Chill the glass: Fill a tall glass with as many ice cubes as possible.
- Base with soda: Pour the cold soda water into the glass, leaving a little space at the top.
- Finish: Slowly pour the matcha shot over the soda water. If you pour it gently over an ice cube, you’ll get a stunning layered effect before you stir it.
